Portugal II

Pretty much the villa we stayed in blew us all away when we saw the place for the first time. Eight bedrooms with en-suites, two kitchens, roof terrace, three swimming pools and  too much more. Being in a group of eleven lads we knew we were in for a massive week.

Down at the marina we found 'Fanta Pineapple' haven't seen it in England, that needs to change.

Obviously McDonald's had to be done.

Kovu

Today I took the time out to get an email to a good friend of Greasy, Kieran Hartley. I've been meaning to get some questions to him for a while and today was as good a day as any. Writer of the ever popular "O Rly Tuff Guy" and now an up and coming DJ/Producer. Kieran Hartley, otherwise known as Kovu.

So Kovu when did you first start producing?
I got a copy of Fruity Loops when I was about 14/15 and started to play with that, it didn't make much sense at the time but after a couple months of reading up on production techniques and learning stuff from other people I soon had the know how to lay down a basic track. I then moved onto Reason 4 , and finally Ableton Live which is what I now use to produce my tracks.

And when did you first begin to DJ?
Roughly about the same time as I got a copy of fruit loops I started taking an interest in DJ'ing after I spoke to a DJ who visited my school to teach people. After getting to grips with the basics with the help of my old midi controller I progressed and started playing local nights, my recent sets have all been on CD though, there is so much more control with CD's.

Now I've seen you DJ many times. Most recent being for Bouteek in Coventry. What would say your best set has been?
In Manchester for a night called Just Skank. It was a small underground venue with 500 capacity but the venue was still maxed out at 4am when I took over from Flux Pavillion to the best crowd I've ever seen!

And if you wanted me to show off one tune in particular what would it be?
The latest track on my soundcloud entitled 'And Then' because it was sampled from a high contrast track. Its a garage track that I produced with a head from Rugby called Artek:

Portugal I

Landed back in the UK last night after an immense week in Portugal, wish I was still out there but it's still good to be home! Slight bit of a recovery is needed after a week of minimal sleep and hangovers. We kick started the holiday off with a few pints at the Rocket before getting the train to Birmingham airport.

Destination Faro.

Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi. Musical mastermind. We been listening in to Kid Cudi for a while, "Man on the moon" pretty much smashed it. But I aint gonna' lie, I missed out on this untill tonight. Pretty much one of the cleanest freestyles goin'.

We been trying to get off the youtube hype for the princaples off keeping the blog clean, but this gets it. Kid Cudi.

No neon

Pretty much I aint had the chance to blog cuz' people have been scorchin' out in my yard. The past three days has been non stop chaos. Got the chance just now to hit the infamous beast though and seen these. We aren't no fan of the whole neon scene. Especially when you see the neon on the neck and cuff of the rutheless day to day wear that gets rolled round Cov town. However Nike have fully gone on leng and gained appreciation in many ways. Go Hard or Go Home

Philip Bloom

I remember ages ago James linked me this video called "Sky" by Philip Bloom. At the time it was probably some of the best footage on Vimeo that I'd seen. In two words, sick photography. Here, check it out.

But anyway, today after scrolling through Vimeo yet again I seen his name come up. So after looking though all his stuff I've decided that this geeza' is fully the man. My favourite from all his work, "Venice's People" shot on Venice beach in LA using the Canon 7D. This film shows the people that live their and gives a major insight into their culture. This footage is more focused than the GOD channel.

Portugal

Rich and Matt did Turkey a few weeks back, so now after months of waiting it's my turn. Later today I'm hittin' Portugal with nine friends. I'll have my camera so hopefully I'll come back a bring a few posts for your viewing.

So anyway last night an early night was needed in preperation, but I can never spend a whole day and night in my yard. So I got my camera and bowled out to meet Harmit and Rhys.
