Ahh Señor Beece. Real name being Ben Clark. I have known Beece for a long time now and over the recent few months me & many others have watched his DJing talent boom. Most recent appearance for Beece being at Bouteek in Careys, Coventry. Sadly none of us from Greasy were shootin' the night so we can't show you what went down. But take it from us, he slammed it. Anyway, I decided to hit Beece up with a little interview after he told me he is working on a little project and he wanted to get some photos done. Hopefully we'll see some form of shoot coming together pretty soon. But for now, Señor Beece, and Vol 1. Get it at the bottom of the post.
First things first, Senor Beece. How did the name come about?
Basically Beece has been my nickname for time, the combination of my initials B.C said as a word is Beece apparently. The Senor bit came from Reading Festival 2009 after 4 days of no washing and no shaving I began to tinge slightly Mexican! Beece and Senor weren't properly put together until a mate of mine, Ginger Cam, messy as ever before, cried out "ahh look Senor Beece" in something that resembled an accent. Shortly after I dropped my first official mix with my name as Senor Beece, so respect ginger cam!
And from back in the day, what has been your favourite genre of music?
All genres! But I guess I've been a trance head from day, I absolutely love it! At festivals you wont find me anywhere else other than the trance bits! Electro, dub, house, techno (everyone loves techno, those who say they dont just havent discovered it yet) they all kill it.
When did you first decide the step into the world DJing?
Last year my old man bought me a midi controller and a copy of traktor pro, from then on I was just taking my laptop to any party where there was a system I could play off. I just like the feeling of dropping a tune that you like, then realising everyone else in the room is on your wavelength.
Now after gaining experience of DJing at various house parties and club events round Coventry, what are your aims for you and your music career in the future?
Aha, you know what I really don't know! I'm moving to Nottingham so i'll have to work hard to get established up there, I'll still make the trip down to Coventry to play at Lick a Beat every month and just see where chance takes me. The element of chance has been rather prominent in my career so far.
Right then off to a seperate strand. You told me about a little project you got going on, explain...
Ahh the project, basically its just a set of mixes, 50 minutes long of tunes new and old which I'm going to put together to try and represent all the genres that I love. Volume 1 is already finished as you can see and it's mainly made up of European house vibes and lots of percussion. Next I plan to move onto a mix thats a bit more ruff, full of electro and fidget, then maybe a tech one. Garage, dubstep and trance mixes are also being considered. I'm not sure myself how far I'm gonna push it, its just something to do while I got time.
